Diluting
Diluting was all over the place—and that was part of their story. They began as a warm, fiery piece, layered with gesso and paint, sanded in meditative cycles. Then came an unexpected shift: a deep green emerged, cooling the surface, creating something unexpectedly beautiful.
When the piece chose dark purple and brown pens for my stream of consciousness journaling, I resisted. I hated every moment of it. It felt like pulling teeth. Creating them diluted my trust in the process—and in myself. It was deeply uncomfortable, and I wasn’t in love with what was appearing.
But still, they called for more sanding. Slowly, the intention behind the discomfort began to surface. I started to see what they were doing. Even then, I hesitated. The piece reflected truths I didn’t want to face—about healing, about surrender, about letting go of control.
Then came a surprise: multiple cool colors along the edges of their shape, shifting the energy toward something gentler. At their core, a fiery warmth remained—softened by a near-transparent veil of disappearing icy blue. Through all this, they revealed their essence: a meditation on contrast, resistance, and the alchemy of fire meeting ice.
